“… the Administration has launched a PR offensive; if they can’t beat the Iraq insurgency, maybe they can beat up their critics here at home. So we’re now told that the Senate and House saw the same pre-war intelligence the President did… All we’re hearing from the President is a tinny rhetoric of redemption. He misled us into war, led by the neo-cons who disdained and ridiculed the first President Bush for not going all the way to Baghdad. They waited years and then exploited 9/11, manipulating the intelligence and fear-mongering about mushroom clouds to rectify the first Bush’s ‘mistake.’
Turns out Daddy knew best.”

It is an insult to Justice Sandra Day O’Connor and every judge sitting anywhere in the United States for the President to state that, after serious consideration, Harriet Miers is the most-qualified nominee to fill Justice O’Connor’s vacated seat on the Supreme Court. The Miers nomination should be withdrawn by the President or, if not, condemned by both parties in the Senate confirmation process.

The conditions in post-Katrina New Orleans are depressing.
Here is a satellite photo of the city, with flickr “notes” (mouse-over the outlined areas in the photo) containing links to pre-Katrina photos of those areas without the flooding:
This next one is a link to the original-size image of the flood (large file for you dial-up users):
